Birkdale School For The Hearing Impaired

Originally built as a boys boarding school in 1904, it was taken over by Liverpool School For The Deaf in 1948.

This out-of-use school for the deaf has been derelict since 2003 and has fallen further and further into disrepair, numerous arson attacks have led to parts of the main building being too risky to even enter, one end of the main building had to be demolished to prevent further damage in 2010. The main building is a sublime example of Victorian Architecture, as seen below.

Enjoy the photos,

As we walked away from the complex of holey floors, shattered glass and glum corridors, a sense of achievement entered us, this felt different to other urbex outings, the building we entered had historic value-blueprints of the school, lists of ex-pupils; it felt unusual to enter a space so similar to my own school, but also clearly so different. The space had evidently been neglected for quite some time.

Blue Skies,

Camlo.
